Am I a Candidate for iDesign?

Vision is the one sense that takes humanity from darkness into the light. Without vision, we would not be able to enjoy all the fullness of what life has to offer. This is why people pursue any treatment to improve or maintain the vision that they have for as long as they can. This is why so many of our patients come in asking if they are a candidate for iDesign-based LASIK surgery.

The answer to this question depends on whether or not a patient is capable of handling LASIK surgery and if they are ready to retire their glasses. We have worked with many patients who have struggled with their vision from their youth, and iDesign has worked well to improve their eye conditions. This is good news for people who have used glasses or contacts for the majority of their lifetime to correct underlying vision issues and get ready to move on to something better.

With advancements in laser eye surgery, having made significant leaps in improvement due to iDesign, it is our mission to make these improvements available to the patients of the Wichita Vision Institute.

What Is the iDesign System?

The iDesign system takes high definition quality scans of a patient’s eye for use in determining if there exists any irregularities in a patient’s eye. Such irregularities could significantly impact a patient’s vision. Doctors performing LASIK surgery on patients need to know this beforehand to ensure a positive outcome will take place. With these high definition scans, Dr. Patel at the Wichita Vision Institute goes ahead and develops a personalized, custom LASIK approach for dealing with any reported eye difficulties.

Ask the Doctor

If a patient is considering LASIK surgery, we generally instruct them to speak with Dr. Patel to determine if there exists any quality of life matters that could be improved by the iDesign procedure. Often a surgical option to improving vision is better than contacts or glasses which are imagined to be like crutches for the eye in light of such advanced eye care technology. People who are nearsighted, farsighted or who have astigmatism may benefit significantly from LASIK, however, with an iDesign scan to enhance this procedure, this helps to ensure they will receive significant improvements to their vision. In simple terms, this is accomplished through LASIK surgery using a laser to reshape the cornea to change how light gets focused back on to the retina.
