Do you dream of getting out of bed without needing to fumble around for your eyeglasses? Or of saving money from not having to purchase endless contacts or bottles of contact lens solution?
Then, LASIK or PRK may be the solution for you.
What is LASIK?
LASIK is a popular laser vision correction procedure that is performed to reduce a person’s dependence on glasses or contact lenses. LASIK stands for laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis. LASIK can treat nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism. LASIK improves the focusing power of the eye by reshaping the cornea with a laser. LASIK is a relatively quick, painless outpatient procedure that lasts only a few minutes per eye. LASIK patients may experience an almost-immediate improvement in their vision after surgery.
How much does LASIK cost?
The cost of LASIK varies depending on certain factors, which include:
• Technology being used
• Amount of laser ablation needed
• Whether one or both eyes are being treated
• Whether a custom treatment is being performed

What Is PRK?
PRK, like LASIK, involves reshaping the corneal tissue with an excimer laser to correct the refractive error causing the eye’s nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and/or astigmatism. When the cornea is correctly reshaped, it is better able to focus light into the eye and onto the retina, and vision is crisper and clearer.
With PRK, the outermost layer of the cornea called the epithelium is removed centrally. LASIK differs in that a corneal flap is made to access the underlying corneal tissue. PRK is known by some people as a “laser surface treatment.”
